Maxie Berger

Maxie Berger (born February 23, 1917) was a Canadian boxer who was Jewish. He was born in Montreal, Canada.
He fought as a flyweight, junior welterweight, and welterweight from 1935-46, and in 134 fights had a record of: Won 99 (KOs 25), Lost 24, Drawn 9.
Berger was selected for the 1934 British Empire Games. He got through to the flyweight amateur finals, but lost a close decision to Joe Palmer of England. The crowd thought that Berger had won.
Berger was recognized by the Montreal Athletic Commission as the Junior Welterweight Champion of the World for 1939.
He also won the Canadian Lightweight Title in late 1937.
