Max Ramsay was a fictional character in the Australian soap opera Neighbours portrayed by Francis Bell. The character made his debut in the program's first episode in 1985. Max was a plumber who was rather loud and uncouth. He had a fractious family life and frequently argued with his wife Maria, and he was disappointed in his sensitive adoptive son Danny. Max had a better relationship with his older, more athletic son Shane. His wife left him in mid 1985. Max left Erinsborough in early 1986 when he abruptly travelled to visit relatives in Queensland. After reportedly reconciling with Maria, he later sent word he would not be returning.
