[edit] Cyber Peacock

Given that most of the visitors to this page would probably have played the american Mega Man X games, wouldn't it make more sense for the english names of the maverick bosses to be listed before the japanese names? ---209.122.74.2 03:41, 25 September 2005 (UTC)

I have seen some evidence in various forms, mainly from instruction manuals for the games, that some mavericks are not infested with the maverick virus. They just decided on their own that humans are inferior to themselves. Most notably character I am refering to is Vile/Vava, as much of this information was directed at him. Just wondering if someone would like to confirm this. EisenKnoechel

Actually, Lumine reveals in Mega Man X8 that the new generation Reploids (Axl, Lumine, all eight X8 bosses) can go Maverick at will. I'm about to add that in. --Doug teh H-Nut

A Reploid doesn't need to be infected with anything, the Hunters just have to not like em. Noone is infected in X1 for example (except possibly Eagleed). --Boco XLVII 23:46, 26 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Table

I've been working on making a table form of the current list. It only goes up to X4 right now, but it goes as follows:

The question is, would this work? Do we need to go in-depth over what was their motivation for going Maverick, like in Robot Master? What about the order of Japanese and English names? It'd make more for English to be first since this article is about Mega Man, but then again, there are also mishaps like the Guns & Roses names in X5. Would making another article (List of Mavericks (Mega Man X)) be a good idea? Thoughts? --Shadow Hog 30 June 2005 21:07 (UTC)

I think that table is a little ugly and has a bit too much wasted space for X1-7,,,, but I have no ideas on how to improve it ;_;
Keep in mind: title, occupation, history, appearances, additional info, etc... a strict table format probably won't work as well as a style guideline for how to format individual entries and where to put what kind of information, if applicable. --Boco XLVII 30 June 2005 21:20 (UTC)
Also, how about a link to the animal that each Irregular uses for a model? That's some potentially useful information. --Boco XLVII 30 June 2005 21:22 (UTC)
There's no need for any of this. I've constructed two articles with both of the information categories depicted in this table: List of Mega Man skills and attacks and List of Mavericks -ZeroTalk 17:05, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Speculation

This paragraph is pure speculation by Megaman X fans. It has not been confirmed at all by any official source.

[Zero[1]], as it turns out, is actually the real origin of the Maverick epidemic. Created by the late Dr. Wily, Zero was designed to be a vessel of the Maverick Virus and to destroy [X[2]], Dr. Light's greatest creation. (This is why the Dr. Light capsules will give nothing to Zero). In his first encounter with Sigma, (Portrayed in X4), Zero shows his strength by defeating a well-equipped Sigma with merely fists and improvized weapons. However, in the process, the Maverick Virus was completely transferred to Sigma, leaving Zero's mind a complete blank. In X5, Zero's origin rears its ugly head again when the Zero Virus appears. If it manages to infect Zero (If the game is not played all the way, for example), Zero's true abilities are unleashed, and he becomes a terrible force capable of truly massive destruction that even Sigma cannot match. Zero is the greatest Maverick threat of all. Zero decides that he needs to purge the virus, and all of itc original components, from his body. However, as it would take roughly 100 years, Zero would need to be kept in stasis for the entire process, until he is revived in the Megaman Zero games.

I suggest that the paragraph be edited to show that this is just a theory of the origin of the virus created by fans and not officially recognized by Capcom.

That's not speculation. Various sources and websites support that claim, as well as the overwhelming amount of game edvidence. This is far from speculation, I'm afraid. -ZeroTalk 19:26, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Peacock not a real Reploid?

I'd have to disagree with this statement. While it is true that Peacock wasn't residing in the real world. It's been shown on numerous occasions that Reploids have the ability of entering the network (part of Cyberspace) through teleportation (Xtreme, Z4, X4, X7) as it turns the user into data. He's simply a Reploid that resides in the network to guard it. Though I haven't read that issue of the manga, I'm sure the above is how it's meant to be. Anybody got a quote to prove otherwise? -Zan Sidera-

Its speaking of the manga version, which did portray Peacock as a virus-type organism. -ZeroTalk 14:05, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] "Killed him".

Read this: Gravity Beetle was working to avenge his brother Boomer Kuwanger, whom X had killed in the first Maverick war. He was defeated, but X and Zero spared his life after they killed him. Theres several more ones like this. I'm editing them out (or at least putting more appropriate words in). Pretty bad english to say the least.

[edit] Regarding the "Three Laws of Robotics" section

I personally think that section is hugely irrelevant. Why? Because Asimov created those laws for his works of fiction, and his works of fiction ONLY. Outside his work, they have no value. Apparently because they're cited as "laws", they think they apply to everything. I mean, come on, if a robot is programmed to kill people, it'll do that, regardless of anything those "laws" say. There's no supernatural force stopping the robot.

I mean, sure it's possible that Dr. Light would program something along those lines into his robots, and if every legitimate scientist normally programs them, I'm sure Dr. Wily doesn't do so, but I'm sure every scientist doesn't program those laws into his robot.

Anyways, this is just my opinion. Let me know what you guys think.HadesDragon 01:28, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
