Talk:Maury Brown

You called it "slander" but I know both Pappas and Brown as well as people who've worked for him at the OSC.
Most of his "work" was done by others.
[edit] Re deletion recommendation
Brown was obviously the author of the original version of the article, since he used his own login name and provided some of the trivial detail (names of wife and children) that only an autobiographer might include. The article was appropriately tagged for this. I have tried to clean this up from time to time, in part in response to what I regarded as undocumented and potentially slanderous entries by one or two others. (See the "Earlier comments" communication above from that person or persons. I invited that person to document his criticisms some months ago in my comment line but he made no effort to do so.)
Now I see the recommendation to delete the article. I feel that it is essentially a factual statement about a baseball writer-analyst of minor note (though 16,000 Google hits for "Maury Brown" on 12/27/07), a person who has contributed widely to sports publications including many major ones, especially concerning the business of sports, and he deserves to be included in WP. If somebody wants to denigrate his contributions or integrity, it behooves them to document their assertions, and not to post slander or spam (as in the last entry that I just deleted today -- see the history). That's a dishonest and dishonorable way to treat any WP entry.
Accordingly, I recommend against deletion of the article at this time, and further that whoever has repeatedly spammed this article be warned.--Mack2 (talk) 01:56, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
