How to cite sources, the "style guideline" on this topic, says:

Articles can be supported with references in two ways: the provision of general references – books or other sources that support a significant amount of the material in the article – and inline citations, that is, references within the text, which provide source information for specific statements. Inline citations are needed for statements that are challenged or likely to be challenged ....

I would contend that the page cited from the Dictionary of Canadian Biography Online supports the material in the article. I would also contend that this publication is "regarded as trustworthy or authoritative in relation to the subject at hand". --Big_iron 21:34, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
