[edit] Plagiarism?

Here is part of the opening paragraph on the Massachusetts State Government Web site:

A protégé of James Michael Curley, Tobin was elected a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives at age twenty-five. After serving on Boston's school committee from 1931-1937, Tobin shocked the political establishment by challenging and beating his mentor, James Curley, in the 1936 Mayoral race.[1]

Notice how closely it resembles the text in the article:

...he graduated from Boston College before entering politics as a protege of the legendary James Michael Curley. Tobin was elected to the Massachusetts House of Representatives at the age of 25, serving from 1927 to 1929. He served on the Boston School Committee from 1931 to 1937, before shocking the political establishment by defeating Curley in the 1937 race for Mayor of Boston.

This smacks of plagiarism. While federal documents in the U.S. may be in the public domain, that is not true of state-produced documents. - Tim1965 01:49, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
