The content of this page is very similar to Demopedia's page, so much so that I thought it was from somewhere else.

  • Much as I like Hinchey I'd like to see a more balanced article
  • Whichever article is taking from the other ought to be crediting, or if both are taking from press releases - for example - they need to be sourced. Schissel : bowl listen June 28, 2005 23:51 (UTC)
I wrote the initial Wikipedia article and then used my own work to start the Demopedia article. If you check the page history on Demopedia, you'll see that my edit summary there says, "(importing what I wrote for Wikipedia)". I think that's enough attribution. To use Wikipedia material on Demopedia in reliance on the GFDL would require more, but I retain the copyright to what I wrote here, so I can use it on Demopedia without regard to the GFDL. As for balance, some people would say that the report of his opposition to the Iraq war was a negative! Beyond that, if the article unfairly omits negative material, then someone should add what's missing. We don't try to balance articles by removing information, or by departing from our standards about what's encyclopedic. JamesMLane 29 June 2005 01:50 (UTC)

Didn't see the edit summary- thank you for pointing it out though I agree I really should have noticed it in the first place... Schissel : bowl listen June 29, 2005 03:56 (UTC)

No problem. It's an area where some vigilance can't hurt. I've posted on Demopedia about the requirements for copying Wikipedia material to "seed" an article, but Demopedia is still comparatively new and not everyone knows the ropes yet. JamesMLane 29 June 2005 04:24 (UTC)
