Mauritania Airways S.A. is an airline in Mauritania.
The company was established in December 2006, and made its first flight on 7 November 2007.[1] It has effectively replaced Air Mauritanie, the former national airline, which suffered from prolonged financial difficulties and was finally liquidated in October 2007.[2] The new airline is a joint venture between Mauritanian and Tunisian interests - Tunisair owns 51%, Mauritanian businessman Mohamed Ould Bouamatou owns 39%, and the government of Mauritania owns 10%.[3]
Mauritania Airways operates an Airbus A320, and is expected to acquire an ATR turboprop from Tunisair subsidiary Sevenair.[1]
[edit] Fleet
