Mauricio Islas (born Juan Mauricio Islas Ilescas on August 16, 1973 in Mexico City) is a Mexican actor best known for his work in telenovelas. He has appeared in several series, including Amor Real, Amores de Mercado and Prisionera. He is signed to star in Telemundo's upcoming Pecados Ajenos.

Islas is the son of businessman Juan Islas and Rosalinda Ilescas and the youngest of two brothers. He was married to Venezuelan singer Patricia Villasana from November, 2001 until their 2006 divorce. They have a daughter named Camila, who was born in 2002.

In 1998, Islas made his protagonist debut in Preciosa with Mexican actress Irán Castillo. He is best known as a leading man in telenovelas, although he twice played against type as a villain. In 2000 he played "Demián" in Televisa's Primer amor... a mil por hora. Then in his 2006 participation in Telemundo/RTI Colombia serial Amores de Mercado starring as the evil "Fernando Leyra".

Islas was also a judge at the 2007 Miss Universe beauty pageant along with Watch Over Me star Dayanara Torres.

In August 2004 a real-life drama embroiled the production of the telenovlea Prisionera as it was revealed of a relationship between Islas and underaged Genesis Rodriguez. The alleged incident took place at a party thrown by the Telemundo Network management where these two individuals were supposed to engage in a sexual encounter. Islas was sacked from the production, being replaced by another actor (Gabriel Porras), eventually affecting the storyline of the production. Details of backstage bickering, overthrown egos, innuendoes and firings were detailed ad nauseam providing the Hispanic press a field day with the story.

Eventually, Islas separated from his wife and starred in another soap opera titled "Los Plateados" when the scandal died down.
