Maurice Le Bègue de Germiny comes from a French aristocratic family (an ancestor was French ambassador to the Sublime Porte in the sixteenth century). He qualified as an archivist and was responsible for the departmental archives of the Jura. Subsequently having trained for the ministry, he became Curé of St. Sevérin, a key left -bank Parisian parish. He is currently bishop of Blois.
