Maurice J. "Sully" Sullivan

Maurice J. "Sully" Sullivan (1909–1998) an immigrant from Ireland who moved to Hawaii was the co-founder, with See Goo Lau, of Foodland Super Markets, the only locally-owned supermarket chain in Hawaii.[1][2] The first store opened on 6 May 1948 in Honolulu, Hawaii.[3] By 2007, Foodland stores could be found on each of the four largest Hawaiian Islands.[2][4] At one time, Forbes Magazine rated Sullivan among the country's 400 wealthiest men with a net worth of approximately $150 million.[1] Sullivan was succeeded by his daughter, Jenai S. Wall, as President of Foodland in 1995 and CEO in 1998, the year of his death.[2][3]
