[1]Maura Clarke Junior High School (Maura Clarke JHS) is a Catholic Junior High School program on the Rockaway peninsula in Queens, New York. Maura Clarke J.H.S. is a part of Stella Maris High School community in Rockaway Park. The school got its name from Maura Clarke the Maryknoll sister who lost her life as a martyr in El Salvador along with Ita Ford, Jean Donovan, and Dorothy Kazel. The school is known as the only Catholic Junior High School in Queens, New York.

Currently Maura Clarke JHS is a small sized school with extremely small classes. The school has had grades with as few students as six. Maura Clarke JHS currently has a seventh and an eighth grade, although the school used to have a sixth grade.

In order for a student to be accepted into the school they must pass a cumulative exam. The school tries to limit the number of students per grade to eighteen, but it is known to have reached twenty plus students.

At Maura Clarke Junior High School respect and discipline are very important aspect of the school. This is a quality that must be acquired because the Maryknoll Sisters of Saint Joseph are the teachers for many classes.
