[edit] A Day on the Beach

No matter how low or high the tide is, this bay is always a beautiful alternative, and is known for having a prestine reef. The bay has seen its share of changes, and helps to feed out the marina of Hawaii Kai into the Pacific Ocean. The current is known to be strong on occasion, so precautions should be advised.

When the tide is low, locals enjoy taking a walk on the sandbar, and exploring the nearby reef. It is not uncommon to find moon jellies that got caught on the sand bar before the tide lowered, but do take notice of the constantly rising tide, because waters could become treacherous, depending on how far out you are.

Another famous scenic spot for tourists near Maunalua Bay, is Hanauma Bay, which is known for having clear waters and many native fishes.
