Maum meditation

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Maum Meditation is a meditation method aimed on discovering one's inner truth through meditation. In Korean Maum, pronounced Mah-Eum, means the mind, soul or spirit. Maum Meditation was founded by Woo Myung in 1996 in Mt Gaeryong. Maum is a practice unaffiliated with any religion though it uses metaphysical terms associated with religion (i.e. one can live forever even though his body passes away by being reborn as the truth, energy and God of the universe) [1]

[edit] Explanation

Maum Meditation is focused on "cleansing" the mind and the body to see and live the reality of the universe. In Maum it is believed that through meditation practice, images collected in the mind can be thrown away to reveal the identity of true self. In doing so, inner truth and happiness can be achieved. One of the key claims of Maum's meditation is that people can be enlightened to reveal the identity true self and regain eternal life.

[edit] Education in Maum

In Korea, instructors have lectured on Maum Meditation to numerous employees at the Bank of Korea, Hospital Baek, Samsung, MBC Culture Center and Kia Motors. Under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Education, Maum Meditation has been giving lectures and promoting the practices to teachers. University professors have also been promoting the meditation technique at the Association of University Education.[citation needed]

[edit] Maum Meditation members

Over 250,000 people have become members of the Association of Maum Meditation (AMM)[citation needed]. Thousands of people are practicing Maum Meditation at over 110 training centers in Korea and in other countries such as Japan, Canada, Australia, France and the United States[citation needed].
