Maulana Masood Azhar ,founder of the organization Jaish-e-Mohammad, is a former clergyman whose family settled in Bahawalpur, Pakistan at the time of its independence. He is active in Terrorist activities in the Kashmir valley.[citation needed] The government of Pakistan interestingly, has been trying to spread rumours that Maulana Masood Azhar is a turncoat, who after spending time in Indian jails, was turned by India's intelligence agency RAW and who's sole intention it is to defame the 'Independence movement' taking place in Indian controlled Kashmir and the government of Pakistan.
He founded the group Jaish-e-Mohammed after he was released by India, in exchange of the passengers of the hijacked Indian Airlines Flight 814 in 1999.[1][2]
Jaish is also accused by the Indian government to have closely worked with Lashkar-e-Taiba in carrying out planned attacks on the Indian Parliament on December 13, 2001.[3]
