Maudite

Maudite is a Belgian-style strong dark ale that has been brewed by Unibroue since 1992. The beer is fermented on yeast based in the bottle.

The beer is a strong-red ale, with an ABV of 8%. The taste is said to be one of wheat, citrus and spice. Maudite has a typically Québécois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of Voyageurs struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.
