[edit] Problems with your accounts

I saw that you've had trouble logging in to your old accounts. To prevent this from happening again, I recommend that you list your email address in "my preferences." That way, if you forget your password, the Wikipedia software can email it to you. The email address is accessible only to other Wikipedians, not to the entire www. If any other problems arise, you can ask at the help desk. YechielMan 16:28, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

Thank you but that's not the problem. Every now and then, say four months, somehow I get logged out and I type in my password and it says I have the wrong password. But I know that it's the right password, I even wrote it down. I don't know if someone keeps cracking it and changing it or if it's something else.Mattkenn3 17:19, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Africa articles

Oh you don't know how much of a relief this is. I was beginning to wonder if anybody would see their importance - i stubbed most of them or just added lists to get them running. I would like to see 60 KB detailed articles for every country eventually but fully written and referenced. I want it to be written covering fauna, flora, conservation national parks etc using the article Wildlife of Karnataka as a model for how each article should look. This is great news ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 21:13, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

You'll also be pleased to know I reformatted that lanky template for Africa to the foot of the page only as we appear to have 56 or so articles (includes St Helena etc) ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 21:16, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

What about the Ostrich? South Africa has the largest pop of Ostrich in the world - I created many releated articles several months ago. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 21:33, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

Sounds good but remember to try to write specific to wildlife in that country not explaining about species in general. -e.g Cheetahs are under conservation in the Cango Wildlife Ranch etc in the north-east of South Africa etc etc. Also the pages include flora so any plants of note you know of please add. Keep up the good work. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 09:49, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Multiple accounts

All your accounts ( User:Mattkenn, User:Mattkenn2, User:Mattkenn3, and User:Mattkenn4) exist and appear to be working properly. If you are having a problem with any of them, please leave a message on the help desk or on my talk page, or just put {{helpme}} on your user page with a comment explaining the problem.

I urge you to select one of these accounts, and retire the others, to avoid confusion. if you want help in marking some of these as retired, jut indicate which one you want to use, and ask for help.

It is probably not a good idea to stay logged in for months at a time, as your comment above implies that you do. Indeed it is best to log out at the end of every work session, and log back in when you return. If you are having a problem with logging in, try deleting your cookies and clearing your browser cache and deleting temporary internet files. If that doesn't work, try the help desk. DES (talk) 16:02, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

well then, I urge you to place an email address in your prefernces for both User:Mattkenn3 and User:Mattkenn4, and confirm each whn the confirmation emaill arrives (it can be the same email address for each. Please pick one of these two to be your long-term user ID, adn we can mark the othrs as inactive. Is that ok? DES (talk) 20:26, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
You are welcome. Do i correctly understand that you plan to use the User:Mattkenn3 account as your primary account from now on? DES (talk) 20:46, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

I'd still suggest you keep just User:Mattken3 as your page and put your personal info in User:Mattkenn3/Personal info rather then User:Mattken2-this way the pages automatically become a part of your main user page and avoids confusing links -just a suggestion -now can we get this sorted please ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 21:11, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

that is not a bad idea, but you may do it however you wish. Do you want the userboxes and other content from the user:Mattkenn page moved to this page or to anywhere else? Is ther any contetn from user:Mattkenn4 that you want?
Also, Do i correctly understand that you do not have a working password for user:Mattkenn? If so, i will block that account as possibly compromised. DES (talk) 21:14, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

thanks for the barny. i'd still strongly suggest you delete the other user: pages and stick with Mattken3 - if you've seen all of my many user pages they are all [[User:Ernst Stavro Blofeld/ something.... ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 07:47, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Huzzah!

Remember one time you made a deal with me, saying that if the episode guide you found was right and I was wrong, then you would write...umm...I forget, a short note....saying how I was right(I think) and its your guide that you found was apparently wrong, the first four episodes have been revealed and Mozart isn't even in the Whiskers anymore. [edit] Wildife of Africa

Hey you've got to be kidding - their still pretty awful to be honest. Seven years of wikipedia you'd expect them all to be full written and encyclopedic long ago by now but are still only in their infancy. These pages are very scruffy indeed -I want them eventually to look like Wildlife of Karnataka polsihed - no ugly looking lists and looking respectable to even experts. The pages should not explain what the species is or its basic traits but should explain how they are relative to that specific country and distribution -conservation efforts , protected reserve sin the country etc. Otherwise there is no point in them. Really we need a WikiProject Wildlife on wikipedia which deals with genral species and conservation ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 20:14, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

Wildlife of Karnataka or Fauna of India should be used as a guideline in how to write these into proper articles. Its a shame the Indian wildlife group couldn't give a damn about African nature isn't it!!! ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 20:18, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

Have a read of Wildlife of Karnataka to see how I hope each article will become. And this is a state as well not even a country!! ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 20:21, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

Well I'd rather not have them too simplified. If I was writing for a child I'd use The Simple English wikipedia. This is supposed to be a mature encyclopedia with mature writing. But yes I agree they all need writing into good encyclopedia articles. This of course will take time. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 08:12, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

Hey thats great - I didn't mean to sound harsh -but I agree the lists ought to be written into prose and simpilified a little. I'd strongly suggest though that we find some online information on national parks or whatever in a specific country and write about the fauna/ flora within in rather than explaining what the animals are. Cameroon begins to do this I think. Hope you're having a good holiday!! ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 09:31, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Ojibwa prayer to a slain deer

I was wondering where exactly should I put it? I don't really see any particular place that I should put it at. Do I just go to the bottom of the page and make a new heading and throw it in there and provide a link from it to the Ojibwa indians page or what? just put the answer on my talkpage please. Hi. It looks like CJLippert already added a link to an external site which has the text of the prayer. I don't think adding the full text of the entire prayer to an article here would be appropriate, though. Take care, --Miskwito 01:43, 15 August 2007 (UTC) Moved from User talk:209.205.152.237

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Hubble_pic.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Hubble_pic.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 16:03, 15 April 2008 (UTC). You should provide a link to the website you found them on showing the image. These images also probably exist on Commons already as higher resolution images. Did you try looking there? If you do find the images there, we can delete the ones here. Also, these images aren't being used. If they're no longer needed here, we can just delete them anyways. Thanks for your help and understanding. My Image FAQ may be of more help as well. MECUtalk 12:38, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
Who made the image? Hubble Space Telescope did! So put that. Or put NASA or something like that. MECUtalk 00:20, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
Yes, because the "no source" tags are still on there. An admin probably shouldn't delete the images, though we probably should get this deleted since they are small and not being used, and larger identical images likely exist on Commons. MECUtalk 15:16, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

I found out where Mango_Kat is! After she left, she took up the name Rio, and I met her and became friends, though I didn't know she was Mango. P.S. XD is a laughing face. Look at it sideways. XP is an amused face. Cruise meerkat (talk) 23:31, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

Sorry to jump in, but Mango's user page keeps getting deleted because she keeps setting up as a social networking page for chatting which violates WP:USER. Some earlier ones were also deleted because she is a minor and revealed far too much personal information on her page, so it was deleted for her own safety. The recent ones don't have that information, but they do keep violating the user page policies, and so they keep being deleted.-- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 23:36, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
