A notice about editing user pages and vandalism
Following the vandalizing incident by 62.255.248.116 (talk · contribs), I must ask that if you want to make any changes to my user pages (with the exception of template substitution and/or decategorization on the sandbox page), you MUST ask first on this talk page. Failure to do so will result in your edits being vandalism. Repeated incidents may result in you being reported and blocked.

I thank you for your understanding. -- M (speak/spoken) 22:11, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Sandbox

Hello, Mattderojas. Could you please modify User:Mattderojas/Sandbox so that it does not place the page in inappropriate categories, like Category:Possible copyright violations? Some user pages have copyright violations and so user pages in the category cannot be ignored. Thank you, Kjkolb 07:43, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

Hey, how do I do that? Mattderojas 00:00, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

I took care of it for you. I hope you don't mind. :-) First, I substituted the the templates by adding subst: to them, like {{subst:copyvio}}. After saving, {{subst:copyvio}} is replaced with the code the template is made with. Then, I removed the part of the code that put the page in the categories. Only certain templates should be substituted ordinarily. It reduces the server strain or something. It should say on the template page whether to substitute or not. -- Kjkolb 09:33, 21 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Strange things are happening

For some strange reason, I added the two links to non-existing pages.

Oddly enough, these TV programs don't actually exist. But they are candidates for programs on the XTV network (for crying out loud, another page that I have to create. I've been spending months on this one!)

[edit] Images removed from User:Mattderojas/Box1

I removed those images from that page because they are tagged as fair use image. You are not permitted to use them in your userspace, per terms of Wikipedia:Fair use criteria item #9. Please do not re-add them. Thanks, --Durin 12:15, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

Understood. I removed a few boxes, and changed the image for one of them. Happy now? Mattderojas Mattderojas 22:34, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] And now for something completely out of whack

All right, who's been messing with my head? (no, not the userbox...) Mattderojas 14:16, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Is it me, or am I expecting a cease-and-desist letter soon?

There are a few people who I have ticked off, and who are ticking me off. The last thing I need is being banned from the whole site just because I'm not following the rules.

All my user pages are being watched for those who might place it as an article for deletion, which really is stupid because who nominates user pages for deletion?

Sorry guys, I'm only trying to help here. I'm not trying to completely screw up WP. Anyone else who gets on my nerves will expect a pouncing-on. Hey, it's also an official Wikipedia policy. I don't want to yell at anyone, but I just want to maintain my pages. They're not supposed to be messed around or changed or nominated for deletion except ONLY WHEN NECESSARY!! (See example with Durin and the now STUPID userbox!)

Oh yeah, and what the heck are "Invariant Sections," "Front-Cover Texts," and "Back-Cover Texts"? This is why I multi-license my contributions!!

Time to hide back in my Koopa shell. Mattderojas 22:34, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] WKBS-TV (Philadelphia)

I see you've been involved with the problem over there regarding RMc's insistence on adding trivial information. Well, he's still doing it, and I've again contacted administrator Firsfron of Ronchester about this situation. It was Firsfron who agreed with us that the line was trivial, and removed it last night. Rollosmokes 17:15, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

Let me see if I have this straight.

1) I add nine words to the WKBS-TV page; 2) Rollosmokes has a hairy conniption fit, insulting me in the process (a common reaction for this guy when someone dares edit "his" pages)); 3) I respond in kind, and 4) I get banned for "personal attacks"!

Boy, that's rich. Are you guys all on the same bowling team or something?

This has gone well beyong the WKBS-TV page; there's principle involved here, which I why I keep pursuing it.

I'm going to edit WKBS-TV one last time. The admins have a choice to make:

1) Leave it alone, or 2) Revert it yet again, which sends the message that if a user jumps up and down and waves his arms (and has the right friends), he can get his way.

Your choice, fellas. RMc 11:33, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

Johnissoevil (talk · contribs) did delete the reference, but on the talk page, DHowell (talk · contribs) proposes to add this back in albeit without the Giants Stadium text. The discussion continues there. -- M (speak/spoken) 21:02, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:TV ARK new.png

Thanks for uploading Image:TV ARK new.png. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 13:09, 25 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Sfcw color.png)

Thanks for uploading Image:Sfcw color.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. [edit] Image:IONTelevision.png

Hi Matt, I've added {{non-free use disputed}} to Image:IONTelevision.png. Every non-free image needs a separate, detailed and relevant rationale for each use, which means that this image needs three. For a great example (though not directly applicable), see Image:Campbells Soup Cans MOMA reduced 80%.jpg. Thanks, Iamunknown 01:33, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

Matt, I'm sorry for the long-delayed reply, I've commented at Image talk:IONTelevision.png. --Iamunknown 14:08, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:MacOSX kernel panic.png

Hello, Mattderojas. An automated process has found and will an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, and thus is being used under fair use that is in your userspace. The image (Image:MacOSX kernel panic.png) was found at the following location: User:Mattderojas/Scary stuff. This image or media will be removed per criterion number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. This does not necessarily mean that the image is being deleted, or that the image is being removed from other pages. It is only being removed from the page mentioned above. All mainspace instances of this image will not be affected Please find a free image or media to replace it with, and or remove the image from your userspace. [edit] Non-free use disputed for Image:FlashVideo.png

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:FlashVideo.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. The Sunshine Man is now Qst 15:38, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:WFLX.png

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:WFLX.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. After Midnight 0001 21:02, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Possibly unfree Image:Wpec logo.jpg

An image that you uploaded or altered, Image:Wpec logo.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images because its copyright status is disputed. If the image's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. You may find more information on the image description page. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. After Midnight 0001 19:54, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Abc_stilltheone_77.png

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Abc_stilltheone_77.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

[edit] WPTV

I rewrote the WPTV article. I think it is organaized better. Let me know what you think and if there are any problems with it. According to video on WPTV's website, they are still using the NewsChannel 5 logo and only use the channel 5 HD logo for promotion of the HD newscasts. Strafidlo 16:11, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Question

What's the name of the tape you have that uses Strand Home Video logo on the packaging but has the Strand VCI logo after the FBI Warning on the tape itself? Zeldabalooney2006 07:34, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:VestronVideo.png

I have tagged Image:VestronVideo.png as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. Thank you. Rettetast (talk) 13:48, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:FrizQuadrata.png

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:FrizQuadrata.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Polly (Parrot) 02:12, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] The X-2 Package

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article The X-2 Package, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? B. Wolterding (talk) 15:13, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
