Matia, could you contribute a little on the De Administrando Imperio article, and create some links to other Greek history? --HolyRomanEmperor 19:37, 7 January 2006 (UTC)

I'm afraid I can't help you there. talk to +MATIA 00:23, 4 February 2006 (UTC)

Hi Matia! Hope you enjoyed your Vacation. Socrates was Alexander The great's Great grand Teacher is my short of writing: "Socrates was the teacher of Plato, who was the teacher o Aristotle, who was the teacher of Alexander the Great." Doron fdoron@inter.net.il

[edit] Macedonia again

Hi, there’s a discussion on at Talk:Macedonia which may interest you. I know that you’ve engaged in discussion there in the past, so you may still be interested in it. I’m hoping it could lead to a compromise standardisation over how η ακατανόμαστη χώρα και ο πληθυσμός της will be referred to and treated by Wikipedia. --Latinus (talk (el:)) 12:56, 4 February 2006 (UTC)

Dear Latinus, thanks for the notice, I'll look into it. talk to +MATIA 13:07, 4 February 2006 (UTC)

What's going on on Arvanites? --Latinus (talk (el:)) 17:38, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
I'm gathering a list of users who revert to an unsourced and unverifiable version... it seems they enjoy revert-war-ing against anything greek (or at least some of them). talk to +MATIA 17:40, 4 February 2006 (UTC)

Why? Admins can't do anything about it - this is a matter for the ArbCom. --Latinus (talk (el:)) 17:43, 4 February 2006 (UTC)

This article has passed through ArbCom in the past... talk to +MATIA 17:56, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
What was the decision - do you have the link. I would help you if I knew anything about it. As far as I know, Arvanites are Greeks who lead the war of independence, that's about it. Of course, I'm in an edit war on Turkish Cypriot and TRNC, where Turkish POV warriors are messing up the articles (check the revision histories). Do you think you could give a hand. --Latinus (talk (el:)) 18:00, 4 February 2006 (UTC)

Avoid edit-wars wherever possible. I think I'm gonna go to ArbCom for those things - as for the link see Wikipedia:Requests_for_arbitration/REX. talk to +MATIA 18:05, 4 February 2006 (UTC)

I'm suprised they protected the Arvanites page so quickly. That revert war at Turkish Cypriot has been going on for days and no one's protected it. --Latinus (talk (el:)) 18:08, 4 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Naming

[edit] FIPRESCI

Good evening to you too, Matia. However, FIPRESCI is some kind of international organization where different countries are members. Unfortunately, I have no better example at the moment, but I think it is not fair to claim that all international organizations are using the provisional name. Bitola 19:33, 6 February 2006 (UTC)

I don't understand the purpose of the question, but, however, Kokino has nothing with the red colour. Bitola 19:46, 6 February 2006 (UTC)

In greek red is usually called kokkino (κόκκινο) and it made me curious. talk to +MATIA 19:50, 6 February 2006 (UTC)

I didn't know that, actually, regarding your language, I only know to say the Greek numbers (ena, dia, trio...) - my grand father taught me that several years ago. Bitola 20:03, 6 February 2006 (UTC)

It's tria but I'd give you a perfect ten for these :) talk to +MATIA 20:06, 6 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Ancient "Arvanitic" inscriptions again

Hi, I've put up a page for Dipylon inscription, and a temporary user page at User:LukasPietsch/Inscriptions comparing the Greek and the alleged "Arvanitic" readings of those two inscriptions. In my view, there is absolutely no doubt left that this Arvanitic claim is bogus, pseudo-science. I'm also going to ask Theathenae, because I think it was him who brought this up. I'd like to know if you two would agree if we marked this claim as a very very fringe view in the article. It would probably be unwise to leave it out copletely, because otherwise future editors might be tempted to bring it up again, as it's really deceptive for the non-specialist. Lukas (T.|@) 20:22, 12 February 2006 (UTC)

Some anonymous editor saw it and brought it up around September. It was then added by Deucaliniote. I've added the author's name and I intended to add Babiniotis and other as majority view (see NPOV, pseudoscience). Yes someone will bring it again up, unless we deal with it. Take care. talk to +MATIA 20:28, 12 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unsourced articles

Hi, do you you think that we should AFD the new article Macedonian toponyms in greece or not? --Latinus (talk (el:)) 23:56, 12 February 2006 (UTC)

You know, looking at it more carefully, it does seem to be a valid article, desperatly in need of formatting. --Latinus (talk (el:)) 00:00, 13 February 2006 (UTC)
I don't know about AFD but it should be renamed because a) the language of RoM didn't existed back then, b) some of these names are common in Serbian, Bulgarian etc. But I guess you wonder if the introduction that will be written in that article can be NPOV - well maybe there's a small possibility that this can happen the NPOV way, so let's give it a shot. talk to +MATIA 00:02, 13 February 2006 (UTC)
Yes, but Greece did not rename them. That article, should just list the Greek and Slavic names of those places. Af first I thought it was from User:Macedonia's userpage and suspected that it was promoting land claims in Greece. It should be renamed to something like List of Greek and Slavic toponyms in Greek Macedonia. --Latinus (talk (el:)) 00:15, 13 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Deleted Images

Hmmm, yes. Deleted images do have histories, and they are viewable by admins, but there are two main drawbacks. 1) Deleted images themselves can't be viewed, even though their histories can. 2) Deleted images cannot be restored. Hope that helps! FireFoxT • 10:23, 13 February 2006

[edit] To be bold

Hi Matia, nice to meet you again here. I think we had this discussion before about being bold. It does not happen very often, usually I just watch what is going on. Somehow I expected that somebody would revert this. Greetings Andreas 19:26, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

Andreas I believe that the "big" article should have at least few lines (a summary) and a pointer to the other article. And obviously I disagree with the total removal. Yes most of the time we should be bold, but not for the wrong reasons and not when the things are "hot". talk to +MATIA 19:37, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

User:Matia, you dissapointed me! Times when we shouldn't have to be bold... This even more confirms the thesis of an old friend 'bout you (User:REX). Regards, Bomac 19:33, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

Bomac I keep seeing you reverting these days. I really miss the time we've written New Macedonia (newspaper). talk to +MATIA 19:37, 14 February 2006 (UTC)
