North Burnett Regional Council is a proposed Local Government Area in Queensland, Australia. The Local Government Area will be created in March 2008 as a result of the report of the Local Government Reform Commission released in July 2007. The new Council, located in the northern catchment of the Burnett River, will contain the entire area of six existing Local Government Areas;
- Biggenden Shire Council;
- Eidsvold Shire Council;
- Gayndah Shire Council;
- Monto Shire Council;
- Mundubbera Shire Council; and
- Perry Shire Council.[1]
The report recommends that the new local government area should not be divided into wards and elect six councillors and a mayor. The North Burnett Regional Council will cover an area 19,708 square kilometres (7,609 sq mi), contain an estimated resident population in 2006 of 10,668 and have an operating budget of AUD32m.[1]
The Regional Council will cover the towns of Biggenden, Eidsvold, Gayndah, Monto and Mundubbera and the villages/communities of Abercorn, Ban Ban Springs, Binjour, Byrnestown, Ceratodus, Coulston Lakes, Dallarnil, Degilbo, Gooroolba, Humphery, Ideraway, Kalpower, Queensland, Moonford, Mount Perry, Mulgildie and Mungungo.
