[edit] S2

CTV originally aired episode fourteen, "Careless Whisper", two days before episodes twelve and thirteen, the hour long special "White Wedding". Episode eighteen, "Dressed In Black" aired before episode seventeen, "Relax".[2]

In America, The N aired season two in two blocks. The first block aired October 7, 2002 to January 13, 2003. The second block of episodes aired July 11, 2003 to August 29, 2003, but the episodes did not air in the order intended by the producers. The season finale of season one, "Jagged Little Pill", had been held over,[3] and was shown in an edited format as this season's fourth episode,[4] along with season two's true fourth episode to form an hour-long special. Due to the sensitive subject of teenage date rape, episodes seven and eight, the "Shout" two-part special, were held over until July 11, 2003 and opened the second half of the season creating an hour-and-a-half long special with episode twenty, "How Soon Is Now?". Because of plot continuity, episode nine, "Mirror in the Bathroom", was also held back and had its first American airing in the second week of the second block of the season, before episodes fifteen through nineteen continued to air in the correct order, followed by episodes twenty-one and twenty-two, "Tears Are Not Enough, Parts 1 and 2" which were broadcast as an hour-long season finale.[2] In re-runs and syndication, the episodes have all aired in the order the producers intended.

Manny and Jay's faux-mance is working perfectly. But when Jay gets too serious, Manny reminds him it's all fake. She's having fun, but the engagement thing is getting old - maybe they should 'break it off' after the road trip to Smithdale College. Meanwhile, en route to a concert at Smithdale, Spinner and Jimmy's car breaks down, so they stop by Jay's to ask for his help only to discover a weeping Jay and a DVD labeled 'Manny's audition'. When they play it, Jay realizes he's made a terrible mistake and knows he must follow Manny and switch the DVDs.

By the time Jay catches up to Manny with the correct DVD, it's too late. Manny's already bombed her audition for Smithdale Drama School, so she throws away their fake engagement ring and tells Jay to get out of her life for good. While everyone else enjoys their road trip adventure, Jay spends his time hatching a plan to get Manny into her program by finessing Professor Iris Dunwoody (Shirley Douglas). Meanwhile, Peter and Darcy quickly discover that it's anything but fun and games at Brat Camp, though Darcy discovers an inner strength she never knew she had.
