[edit] SFC Box
As SFC player, doesn't he qualify for the template? I've noticed Ted bates has one, so assumed it was a logical extension of that? Dan Kerins 17:00, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] NPOV
Added POV-tag since the article reads more like a manifesto of Le Tissier's greatness than an encyclopaedia entry... Decks 22:11, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
He was great. No discussion. xxx
There are no bad sides to his career. He did no wrong! Scored legendary goals and stood for everything that was right :)
A true legend of sport.
honestly, as a non-southampton fan, all that could maybe be added is that he was sometimes criticised for his workrate or consistency. he DID have it all in terms of natural talent and it's commendable that he spent 16 years at one unfashionable club.
- I agree, this article is not what you'd expect to find in a typical encyclopedia. I suggest that whoever contributed the bulk of this article have a good read of WP:NPOV and make some changes. It's no problem if you want to make it clear that Le Tiss was a hero (and I'd be the first to agree with you by the way) but you need to back it up with something other than your own opinion. --Owain loft 14:17, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
In my opinion the article is well written -although- he should back it up with better evidence, and there MUST be more insight into Matt Le Tissier's style of play - the guy was unique. (Luis, Spain) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.50.81.81 (talk) 13:21, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Appearances & goals
The infobox would appear to include incorrect information. In the wikipedia infoboxes goals and appearances are only counted for domestic league games. However the numbers in the box contradict those in the text --Wikipediatastic 14:46, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
- I have amended both the text and the infobox to show the correct figures for both his league appearances & goals and his cup appearnces & goals. These differ slightly from the figures used by Wikipediatastic but are as shown in the semi-official history of Southampton FC (In That Number - see Hagiology Publishing) and also to the record on "AllFootballers.com". - OK, we will go with your numbers. I wasn't sure which were correct. Wikipediatastic 09:06, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Tottenham Hotspur
He did not tear up a contract with Tottenham, Tottenham had agreed a deal to sign him, and had obtained his registration forms from Southampton whilst under the Charmanship of Douglas Alexiou, prior to the club being sold to Alan Sugar, who promptly tore up the paperwork.Statto74 16:37, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] International Qualification
While it's a moot point now, can someone confirm why MLT was eligible to play for France? It's not due to his birthplace, was it under the parent/grandparent rule? Deadlock 12:23, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
MLT was not eligible to play for France as there is no citizenship link between the Channel Islands and France. This was a misleading story put out by some English newspapers. Nor did he have an automatic entitlement to play for England. People born in the Channel Islands with no direct U.K. connection from their parents or grand-parents are eligible to represent any of the four home nations only after they have acquired five years continuous residence in the U.K. Sarniaman 06:42, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Le Tissier.jpg
Image:Le Tissier.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 22:36, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
