[edit] Section of Dorchester

Although not widely known today, Mattapan is still officially a section of Dorchester, annexed to Boston with the rest of the town of Dorchester in 1870. Mattapan has never existed as a separate political entity in its own right, much like Jamaica Plain, Roslindale, and Allston. To have "once part of neighboring Dorchester" reads as if they were officially separated at some point in time. --63.215.27.57 04:16, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
