should this article still be considered a stub?

[edit] Proposed merge

Since this article is trying to cover several types of biological matrices, should they all be merged together? Right now, there are separate articles for extracellular matrix and nuclear matrix. Another potential addition to this page could be the Golgi matrix which is a fairly recent concept in cell biology. - tameeria 01:21, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

The group of definitions of Matrix for biology doesn't have a unifying concept since they relate to different things. Perhaps developing them as distinct pages and introducing a disambiguation page would be better?

Perhaps having an introductory "Matrix" page would work. Though there are Biological matrices, such as ecological character matrices, which are not part of microbiology thus merging them would perhaps confuse the reader. They are all very distinct entities and should be kept as such.

I think the extracellular matrix is itself an important and large enough subject to have an article of it's own, its just currently its article is a stub. (Million_Moments 19:30, 24 April 2007 (UTC))

So it appears the best might be to have a disambiguation page at matrix (biology) pointing to separate pages for e.g. mitochondrial matrix, extracellular matrix, bone matrix, nuclear matrix etc. Does that sound like the best solution? - tameeria 19:36, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
I agree that it would be better if they were split out. --Arcadian 16:04, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
Thanks! I'll remove the merge tag then. tameeria 16:25, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Current redirects

Nail matrix and bone matrix currently redirect here, if anyone feels like creating those pages. Other topics of interest might be Golgi matrix (Golgi apparatus), chromosome matrix/scaffold (MAR/SAR-related), and spindle matrix (spindle apparatus). - tameeria 18:00, 2 May 2007 (UTC) Addendum: It appears osteon would be where bone matrix should redirect. Is this correct? - tameeria 18:11, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
