Thanks for the modifications, however the source: Carter, Edward C. "Mathew Carey, Advocate of American Naval Power." The American Neptune XXVI (1966) has been split up, which isn't good :((. Thanks so much though, I'm just (slowly) getting used to the format and haven't been able to figure out categories or other important stuff yet.

All the text is my original writing, a short part of a small research project on John Paul Jones and his time on the Ranger. I included one quote, but otherwise the writing is all my own.
