My great, great, grandfather Thomas Mercer named the town of Matfield Green, Kansas, USA after Matfield England. Although he did immigrate from England as a child it is not known if his family was originally from County Kent. Matfield Green is in the Flint Hills area of north eastern Kansas and unlike the stereotype for Kansas is quite hilly and picturesque. Photos I have seen of Midfield England look nothing like Matfield Green, Kansas.
