Matunge is the traditional name of the herbalist named Chief Nduta Kilala Matunge, who is located in Tanzania. Chief Matunge is an illustrative example of how traditional rural medicine is being transformed by modern technology. Chief Matunge has opened up a modern clinic and has his own website.
There are many herbalists who treat and counsel patients, as well as perform astrology. Another local example is Kifimbo Cheza.
[edit] Drawbacks
Practitioners like Chief Matunge are on the cutting edge of modern development, and hence are trusted by the population of Tanzania. There are also herbalists who are looked on as "con men". This lowers general trust in the practice in Tanzania.
