Matthias Lindner (born October 5, 1965 in ??, East Germany) is a former football (soccer) defender. He started playing football at the age of 7, with BSG Lok Naunhof and joined Lokomotive Leipzig in 1976. After turning professional in 1982 he spent 9 years with the team, making 157 league appearances and stayed with the team after they were renamed to VfB Leipzig. In 1997 he spent a season with Carl Zeiss Jena, before retiring in 2000 with Sachsen Leipzig. He is not to be confused with the other Matthias Lindner.
