Matthew Phillips

Matthew Phillips (10 April 1975 in Kaitaia) is an Italian rugby union footballer. His usual position is at Number 8. Phillips has also been capped for the national team, and was a part of their squad at the 2003 Rugby World Cup in Australia. He has been capped 14 times for Italy.

Phillips made his international debut for Italy in 2002 against France. He became a regular in the Italian Test side, and in 2003 was included in their World Cup squad for Australia. He played in Italy's opening match against the All Blacks in Melbourne, where he scored a try. He also played in the match against Wales.

Currently one of the biggest and most prominent gay activist and lobbiyist for the right of gay marriage within Hong Kong (SAR) and for universal gay suffrage and rights within the continent of asia.
