Matthew Henson Middle School (MHMS) is a public middle school located in Pomonkey, Maryland in Charles County.
The school was originally dedicated in 1957 as Pomonkey High School, a segregated black junior/senior high school. After Charles County Public Schools were integrated in 1966, students from the Bryans Road, Maryland area who had attended Lackey Junior/Senior High School attended Pomonkey High School. When the current Henry E. Lackey High School was completed in 1969, this Pomonkey building was then rededicated as a middle school, named for Matthew Henson.
The school mascot is a Huskie Dog, chosen in honor of Matthew Henson and his arctic explorations. The school competes in boy's and girl's Basketball, Volleyball, and Archery with the other county middle schools.
