Matthew Crompton (b. 17 July 1971) is an actor based in Britain. Originating from St. Helens, Merseyside[1], he is probably best known for playing the role of PC Sam Harker in the long-running ITV drama The Bill. He has also appeared in various other TV shows, including two distinct roles in Brookside (Darren Murphy in 1992, and Dan Morrissey in 2002-3). From 3rd December 2007 he has played Dan Mason in Coronation Street, signing a new one year contract in April 2008. He was once gunged on "Mad For It". He has a fiancée named Yvette Comper
