Matters Of The Heart is Bob Bennett's second release. In January 1983, CCM Magazine named this album "Album Of The Year - 1982!" CCM Magazine later named Matter of the Heart as one of the "Top 20 Christian Albums Of All Time."

Matters Of The Heart was released by CBS/Priority in 1982. The album went out of print that summer because Priority Records went under. In 1985, Star Song re-released the album. By 1987 the album became out of print again. Finally in 1989 the cassette for the album was re-released by Urgent Records. In 1990, Urgent Records released the CD; soon after it went out of print again, until its May, 2007 release on iTunes.
