Matt Thiessen and the Earthquakes

Matt Thiessen and the Earthquakes is the side project of Relient K's lead singer, Matt Thiessen. Although the name would imply otherwise, the Earthquakes are just Thiessen playing his piano and occasionally his guitar. No full length albums have been released for the Earthquakes as of June 23, 2004, Thiessen has been on numerous compilations including, Deck the Halls, Bruise Your Hand, Relient K's Christmas album with the song, "I Hate Christmas Parties," which was written before the Canton, Ohio band's self-titled debut. He has also released, "Poison Ivy" on THE REVOLUTION WILL BEGIN IN THE BLINK OF AN EYE VOL. 01 and, "The Calendar, The Energy (If This Is You Then Woe Is Me)" on THE REVOLUTION WILL BEGIN IN THE BLINK OF AN EYE VOLUME TWO both of which were released on Mono Vs. Stereo Records.
Many bands have been influenced by Matt Thiessen's side band. Other side bands have copied Matt Thiesen and the Earthquakes by adding their personal name to 'and the Earthquakes.

Matthew Thiessen and The Earthquakes has just recently put out two new songs entitled "Faking My Own Suicide" and "The Warmth of The Sun," a Beach Boys remake. These songs were released along with "The Calendar, The Energy (If This Is You Then Woe Is Me)" on a compilation called My Other Band, released by Mono Vs. Stereo Records. Also on the CD are three songs by bandmate from Relient K, Dave Douglas. His project is called Agnes. The three songs by him are called "Privileged Few," "The Brakes," and "Gravity."
