Matt Squire

Matt Squire is an American multi-platinum music producer. He has produced or engineered albums for Boys Like Girls, The Used, All Time Low, Panic at the Disco, Automatic Loveletter,The Cab, Forever The Sickest Kids, This Providence, The Maine, The Receiving End of Sirens, These Enzymes, Thrice, Northstar, The Explosion, Cute Is What We Aim For, Monty Are I, and People in Planes.

[edit] The Early Years and Personal Life
Matt Squire was born in Washington, D.C. on May 7, 1976. He was drawn to music at an early age. He got his first guitar at age 8 and he taught himself how to play drums at age 10. Squire attended high school at Georgetown Day School and graduated in 1994. He went on to attend Boston University and graduated in 1999.
Prior to producing, Squire was in numerous bands. He was in Ashes, Miltown, and The Rise Park. After The Rise Park folded, Squire recorded some demos for The Explosion. Soon after that, he went on to work with producer Paul Q. Kolderie. Squire and Kolderie banded together and reopened Fort Apache Studio in Boston under the name Camp Street Studio. In late 2004, Squire moved to the Washington, D.C. area to open up SOMD studios in College Park, MD. After moving back to the Washington area, Squire was re-introduced to Alexandra (Ali) Mackler. Squire and Mackler both went to the same high school and college. Prior to their May 27, 2007 marriage, Squire and Mackler moved into a new home down the road from College Park, MD and reopened SOMD studios in their home.

Matt Squire is known for producing emo-punk. He has a knack for discovering underground bands and helping them discover their own identity. Squire works very closely with his bands. He is known as a hands-on producer who often makes lyrical and musical suggestions. He is known to write music on his own and present his ideas to the bands. He also co-writes with artists.
Although he is mostly known for this successes in the emo world, he has branched out and worked on other musical styles with bands like The Used, The Cab, Skindred, People in Planes, 3 oh! 3, and Automatic Loveletter.
