Matt Slocum

Matt Slocum (born December 27, 1972) is a guitarist, cellist, and composer. He is best known for his work with the rock band Sixpence None the Richer. He wrote the majority of their songs.
Slocum played guitar in Love Coma, a Christian rock band, before leaving to start Sixpence None the Richer.
Slocum met vocalist Leigh Bingham Nash at a church retreat in the early 1990s. The two formed Sixpence None the Richer and were its only constant members.
In 1998, Slocum played cello on Viva Voce's first album, Hooray For Now.
In 2006, Slocum went on tour playing bass guitar for The Choir. He has also played guitar with Over the Rhine. Currently, Slocum plays bass in the band the Astronaut Pushers.
Slocum is also a respected studio guitarist and cellist, performing on albums by artists Julie Miller, Plumb, Wes King, Switchfoot, Hammock (band), Lost Dogs, The Choir, Dividing the Plunder, Threefold, Brooke Waggoner, and others. He also appeared on cello on the Chris Rice DVD Inside Out.
He co-wrote the song Nervous In the Light of Dawn with Leigh Nash for her debut solo album Blue on Blue.
In November 2007, Leigh and Matt met over coffee and positively discussed the reuniting of Sixpence. The band is currently in the process of tracking a new EP, and a tour is planned for April and July of 2008.
