[edit] Biography

Matthew Anthony Rubano was born on March 10, in Valley Stream, New York, but grew up in Baldwin, New York. He moved back to Valley Stream, NY after he graduated high school. He joined Taking Back Sunday to replace Shaun Cooper, who left to form Straylight Run with John Nolan, also formerly of Taking Back Sunday. He was asked, by Mark O'Connell, to come and audition because Matt and Mark were childhood friends. So, Matt auditioned and they decided it worked. He has played bass for other artists including Lauryn Hill's The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill. Matt was the bassist for fusion/jamband Schleigho for about one year, playing on the album "Continent". He also played bass in the musical Bat Boy.

[edit] Trivia

  • Occasionally lives with his mom who resides in Baldwin (as said on Louder Now Partone: DVD). In a later interview, he was asked why he reveals so much about his personal life. He then also reveals he lives two blocks away from the park in his hometown, but won't say where.
  • Due to Adam Lazzara's obsession with swinging his mic, during the Give It A Name Festival in 2006, Matt suffered a blow to the head which knocked him to the ground. He was rushed backstage, bandaged up crudely, and rushed back out to finish the show. This event resulted in 6 stitches on the left side of his forehead. He said, "It felt like getting hit in the head with a golf club, or a baseball bat, or a truck". A shirt was then later released in commemoration of the accident by the band. He forgave Adam Lazzara for hitting him in the head.[citation needed]
  • He has a girlfriend, as stated in the Taking Back Sunday journal(www.takingbacksunday.com) and in the Kerrang! Video Podcast.
  • Twice, the tour bus left without him in Europe.
  • He is the shortest member of Taking Back Sunday but Adam Lazzara jokes about it and often calls him the tallest member of Taking Back Sunday.
