Matiur Rehman

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Matiur Rehman (born 1977) is a Pakistani militant and suspected al Qaeda leader. He was arrested August 2006 in Bahawalpur [1] He was thought to have frequent contacts with Ayman al-Zawahiri and to be in contact with Rashid Rauf.

Currently, GlobalSecurity.org lists that there is low confidence in Rehman's status as an al-Qaeda operative [2], perhaps since "the lion's share of the investigation of Matiur Rehman had been done by ABC News' Alexis Debat" [3], whose reporting was withdrawn in September 2007 by all news agencies following extensive evidence of frequent fabrications.
