Matisyohu Salomon

Rabbi Matisyohu Salomon serves as the mashgiach ruchani of the Beth Medrash Govoha Yeshiva in Lakewood, New Jersey. Born in Gateshead,England, he learned in London, and later became mashgiach ruchani of Gateshead Yeshiva, a position he held for more than thirty years. He is a well-known lecturer on topics relating to Jewish religious growth and communal issues in the yeshiva world.
During his yeshiva and kolel years he studied for 16 years with Rabbi Chaim Kaufman, who went on to found the Gateshead Yehiva L'Zeirim.[1] Rabbi Salomon also studied under Rabbi Elya Lopian, the former rosh yeshiva of Etz Chaim yeshiva. He was mashgiach in Gateshead Yeshiva for a number of years before moving to Lakewood in thw inter of 1997.
In March 2006 Rabbi Salomon was one of three rabbis from leading yeshivas in the USA who participated in a forum at Congregation Bnai Yeshurun of Teaneck, described by one observer as "an event of monumental importance"[2].
A number of books have been published based on his public shmuzin (lectures) and shiurim (classes) under the title Matnas Chaim on varying topics such as the Yomim Noraim (High Holidays), Moadim (holidays), Sha'arei T'shuva L'Rabeinu Yonah and Kinyanim.
