Mathra is a village near the punalur town. It is the headquarters of mathra grama panchayath .It is a big village constituting many temples like mathra ayiravalli temple{SIVA},paravathi devi temple,etc. It also has the school like saraswathi villasam school .Many KSRTC buses ply through mathra connecting to punalur and other nearby places. the private vehicles including jeeps,autos etc also connect mathra to punalur^[1] It also has a Bank{Mathra cooperative bank}
