Mathilde Verne

Mathilde Verne (May 25, 1865 – June 4, 1936) was a pianist and instructor. She was a pupil of Clara Schumann and a great-niece of Jules Verne.
Pupils flocked from all over the world to her school, Mathilde's College, in London, founded in 1909. Her pupils, aside from her own sister, Adela, and her own nephew, John Vallier, included Solomon; Dame Moura Lympany and Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon (the future Queen Elizabeth, HM The Queen Mother)
Mathilde Verne has been ranked as one of Europe's greatest music teachers, along with Leschetitzky, Busoni, Philip and Matthay.
The Southampton, England-born Verne died in London, aged 71.
