Mathilde Franziska Anneke

Mathilde Franziska Anneke (born in Germany on April 3, 1817; died in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on November 25, 1884) was a German feminist, socialist, and newspaper editor, owner, and reporter. She married an artillery officer, and travelled with him during the Prussian invasion of the Palatinate, writing writing about it.[1]

After the Prussian victory, they had to flee Germany, and emigrated to the United States, where he tried to become an artillery officer in the United States Army during the American Civil War. She recreated her career as a feminist author and publisher, becoming a friend and colleague of Susan B. Anthony.[2]
