Mathieu Bastareaud is a highly promising Rugby Union centre who plays for Stade Francais. Only 19 and possessing physical strength at 110kg he is the brightest French Rugby prospect in many years. Born in Senegal he moved to Massy. He went through the junior academy there and played for the third division club SU Massy. He attracted national attention and after two seasons he moved to European giants Stade Francais. He has impressed coach Fabien Galthie and is expected to be in Marc Lievremont's 2008 Six Nations squad at just 19.
