Mathias van den Gheyn

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mathias van den Gheyn (1721-1785) was a Flemish composer. He lived and worked in Leuven.

He is known first and foremost for his compositions for the carillon and the organ, though he wrote for the harpsichord as well. His eleven preludes (Preludio I - X and Preludio Coucou) are among the most frequently performed pieces on the carillon due to their musicality and technical virtuosity.
