Mathews, Virginia

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mathews is an unincorporated community in and the county seat of Mathews County, Virginia, United States.[1]

Mathews County is a rural county known for its location on the Chesapeake Bay, its annual Tour De Chesapeake (due to its lack of hills except for one on the Mathews-Gloucester border known at "Ewell Mountain" by the locals, after those residing on the hill,) and its local artists such as P. Buckley Moss. The county of Mathews is the second smallest county in Virginia and has more coast than any other county. It is the home of many talented athletes and artists. Though it is a small town, there are some attractions such as the miles of coast, Haven, Bavon, and Hallieford beaches. (see http://www.visitmathews.com/MIMS/online.htm.)
