Mathew Bose is an English actor, mostly known for his role as Paul Lambert in the television series Emmerdale.

Mathew Bose was born 3 July 1973 in south east London. He has an older brother, Shuvro who lives in London, and a sister, Shuva, who lives in India. When he was young, Mathew's family moved to India. Most people don't realise I'm half Indian he reveals to Inside Soap. At the age of six he returned to England to stay with his aunt. He's also lived in Milan, Paris, New York, and Los Angeles. Mathew now splits his time between Leeds and his home in Islington, London which he shares with his partner James Ditchfield, a television director.

In the early days of his career, Mathew was a model. He studied psychology in Los Angeles where his lecturer suggested he join performance classes. He showed great talent in Los Angeles but was unsuccessful with regards to acting work and returned to England.

Mathew won his first role at 23, and has since appeared in the TV sitcom, My Family and starred in the shows Cutting It, Silent Witness and Coupling. Mathew has also conducted interviews for the BBC D-Day and narrated the 2001 documentary, American Mullet. He won the role of Paul Lambert in early 2004 and his first Emmerdale debut was in September 2004. In mid 2007, Mathew and former cast mate, Hayley Tamaddon aka Del Dingle were crowned winners of ITV show, Soapstar Superchef. Co-star Matthew Wolfenden stated in an interview that Bose is the highest scorer on the Wii that is in the games room on the set of Emmerdale.[1]

In Emmerdale, most of his storylines has centered around his character's homosexuality. He reportedly told producers of his intense dislike of his latest storyline involving a gay love triangle. He, like the majority of Emmerdale's viewers, felt it was out of character and he threatened to quit over the sordity of it all.
