Applying students must submit a two teacher recommendations — one from either their middle school mathematics or science teacher and one from another academic teacher; submit an application which includes a "Statement of Interest" essay; and take a special entrance test covering math, science and reading comprehension.
[edit] Courses
The school curriculum is concentrated on mathematics and science studies, offering an accelerated program.
Students have easy access to AP courses (including Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Economics, AB and BC calculus, European History, U.S. History, U.S. Government, Latin, Spanish), as well as John Tyler Dual Enrollment courses (Differential Equations, Advanced Mathematical Modeling, Linear Algebra, Engineering, Microbiology, Human Heredity), and some VCU courses (i.e. VCU Life Sciences 101). Many of these courses are offered to the "regular" Clover Hill students, but because of different freshman and sophomore year schedules, they are much less likely to be able to fit them into their schedules or meet the prerequisites.
