Mathematica Policy Research, Inc. (MPR) is a policy research organization with offices in Princeton, New Jersey; Cambridge, Massachusetts; and Washington, D.C.; with a new office slated to open in Ann Arbor, Michigan in early 2008.[1] The company was formed as a division of Mathematica, Inc., in 1968; by 1975, it was incorporated under its present name (neither organization bears any relationship to Wolfram Research, publishers of the computer program Mathematica). In 1986, the firm became employee-owned. It has two divisions, one specializing in survey design and implementation, and another specializing in research. Mathematica's research fields include: education, labor, health, social welfare, nutrition, disability, and early childhood.

The company offers policymakers a unique combination of evaluation expertise, direct data collection services, and insight into the socioeconomic issues that drive public policy. Its clients include federal agencies, state and local governments, foundations, universities, professional associations, and businesses.

MPR's president is Paul Decker. It has a partner company, the Center for Studying Health System Change (HSC), which shares its Washington, D.C. office.
