Materialization (paranormal)

A materialization is the creation or appearance of matter from unknown sources.[citation needed] Some miracles reportedly involve materializations.[citation needed] The existence of the paranormal phenomenon of materializations is disputed.

The most famous example of a materialization in Christianity is the story of the multiplication of bread and fish by Jesus to feed a hungry crowd, according to the Bible (John 6:1-15 & Mark 6:35-44) or alternatively Genesis where everything came out of nothing.
The contemporary gurus Indian Sathya Sai Baba (SSB) and Swami Premananda claim to perform materializations, but both are accused of fraud. The items, be they ash pellets, pieces of jewellery or small trinkets, are hidden and concealed in the hand via sleight of hand - palming - and then shown to apparently appear in the hands, when in reality the object was already in the hand. Spontaneous vibuthi (holy ash) manifestations are also reported by followers of SSB on his pictures at their homes.[1][2][3]
