In the 2005-2006 academic year, the middle school received an "A" ,and the high school received a "B" rating in the state's FCAT examination, making it one of the best schools in the state.[1]

The school also has a division within the school for the performing arts, called the Mater Performing Arts and Entertainment Academy, which emphasizes on Drama, Art, Dance, and Music for grades 9-11.[2]

It prides itself for its diversity having teachers, students, and staff from countries such as Turkey, Australia, India, England, Canada, Ecuador, Colombia, Mexico, South Africa ,Cuba, Spain and a varied amount of countries from South America and the Caribbean.[citation needed]

As of June 6, 2008, work has started to replace the band room and the white tent area with a 2 story building to serve for the same purpose.[citation needed]
