Matenrou Opera (摩天楼オペラ?) is a Japanese rock band and part of the visual kei movement. The band formed in October of 2006 but has mostly been active since 2007 when they performed their first live performance. Most notably, the vocalist Sono and drummer Yuu have formerly been members of Jeniva, although all of the members have been in other bands in the past[1].
In late 2007, keyboardist Karen and guitarist Mika left the band and were replaced by Ayame (ex-Ry:dia) and Anzi respectively.
The band has become relatively well-known by listeners of Japanese rock in Europe. They have held a European tour[2] with Versailles which lasted from the end of March to the beginning of April 2008 and their latest EP, GILIA, has been released in Europe as well[3].
